My fitness journey started many years ago as a competitive figure skating athlete as well as a member of the Canadian National Team for Synchronized Skating. Although these years were spent with numerous hours of structured ice time, sport specific training and dance/ballet training, I found great joy being in the gym and challenging my body and strength to its maximum threshold.
Over the years my fitness needs and requirements changed drastically as I was no longer a competitive athlete but now a mother of 3 that was determined to keep the same body and strength that I had when I was training 10 years ago. While I was pregnant with my third child I started attending more group fitness classes and stopped spending so much time alone on the weights. I found the group atmosphere to be inviting, encouraging and bringing out the inner competitor in me to keep me pushing forward, even when I was exhausted and 9 months pregnant.......it was at this point that I knew this was what I was meant to do.
For many of us fitness and health is just a way of life and we don't think twice about spending an hour or two in the gym everyday, nor do we need the encouragement to be there. However for many other's fitness and health is a challenge in itself and this is where I would like to say I play a huge role in the lives of so many people.
My philosophy on life is if you are happy with who you are; if you respect, nourish and care for your body; if your faith, beliefs and values make you proud; if you start something and give it your absolute 100% and if your kindness can put a smile on a perfect stranger's face then you are living a healthy and happy life. We are not all built to look like supermodels or have the strength of an ironman, nor is that what many of us want. What we want is to be healthy and happy, to be able to play with our kids without running out of breath, to have a fun game of football with our buddies and not leave with an injury, to go shopping and not leave angry because you are dissatisfied or to go to the doctors and have them hand you a clean bill of health, that my friends is what is you want and what I have the great privilege of helping you achieve!
